FaZe are the fourth semi-finalists of ELEAGUE's Last Chance Qualifier following a three-map affair with CLG (Mirage 16-4, Cobblestone 14-16, Dust2 22-19).
The last quarter-final of the Last Chance Qualifier began on FaZe's pick, Mirage, and it was them to kick it off as Terrorists with three rounds in a row at the start. Tarik "tarik" Celik then put in a triple to get CLG a round on the board, but the American team ended up losing the following one.
While they had enough money to buy the next round due to surviving in four in the previous, Håvard "rain" Nygaard and Ricardo "fox" Pacheco won a 2v4 to force their opponents on an eco. When FaZe got to 9-1, CLG grabbed two more rounds, but the half still ended at a comfortable 11-4 in favor of the European mixture.
With one-sided rounds FaZe continued to thrive, and even the only close situation, a 1v1 afterplant, went Joakim "jkaem" Myrbostad's way, as his team closed map one at 16-4.
Great display from aizy and rain put FaZe one step closer to EL playoffs
Switching over to Cobblestone, FaZe found themselves winning the pistol round for the third time, though CLG were able to stop them at two rounds as they force-bought in the third and Faruk "pita" Pita picked up three kills.
That set off a streak of six rounds, two of which were anti-ecos and one a 1v1 situation won by James "hazed" Cobb. Their go-to B strategy stopped working afterwards, as FaZe got five more rounds for a comfortable seven as Counter-Terrorists.
They couldn't keep their pistol-winning streak however, letting CLG get up to 11-7 after three convincing rounds. hazed's round-changing double denied FaZe a chance to build up economy after a won round, and Stephen "reltuC" Cutler's defuse in a 2v2 situation put CLG up to 13-8.
FaZe clawed back however, starting with a forcebuy victory on the B bombsite and a 2v3 afterplant on the other, and evened it out at 13-13. CLG were the ones to take control of the rest and take map two at 16-14, also due to a smartly played 1v1 by reltuC for map point.
koosta put on a show on Dust2, but it wasn't quite enough to pull through
Dust2 was left as the decider, and FaZe picked up their fourth pistol round win in the series for another 3-0 lead with rain taking point again, picking up three headshots with the USP-S.
Kenneth "koosta" Suen and reltuC then took over in the following three rounds, taking it to 5-3 in their favor before FaZe levelled it at 5-5. The newly-appointed AWPer, reltuC, stepped up with a quad with the big green gun, putting his team up to 8-5, but their opponents replied with two yet again to make it a 8-7 half.
Much like on Cobblestone, CLG won the second pistol, taking it to 13-8 eventually, trading the first couple of gunrounds. Upon losing the next one, reltuC's squad's forcebuy backfired. pita's triple, which included a double opening and a 1v1 clutch, put CLG one step closer.
FaZe broke their opposition's economy though and rain's 1v3 clutch against a forcebuy saved his team from match point. At 14-14, koosta stepped up with another three kills, but the match still went to overtime as jkaem landed a round-changing triple as well.
The teams kept exchanging rounds until the very end of the first overtime, and so the winner was not found yet. The trend continued in the first half of the second overtime, but FaZe finally took over with three in a row for 22-19.
